We are “Greatly sustainable”!

This is the conclusion reached by the jurors whonominated
PERÚ PURO for the 17th German Sustainability Award.
This business award recognizes pioneers in 100 sectors and honours the beacons of sustainable solutions.

We are delighted with this nomination, as social and environmental sustainability are our top priorities. Everything we do contributes to the major goal of turning the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Peru into a socially exemplary and economically viable business model.

These aspects of our actions make us particularly sustainable:

1. Organic cultivation of the rare original cocoa Chuncho and the coffee Tipica in species-rich agroforestry systems that protect biodiversity, climate and soil in the long term.
2. Protection of intact rainforest areas and reforestation of degraded areas with the aim of preserving important ecosystems and creating ecological corridors between intact habitats.
3. Re-valorization of old rainforest areas through the regulated collection of wild Brazil nuts and the breeding and planting of Brazil nut trees.
4. Supporting the protection of Andean bears by promoting small-scale physalis cultivation.
5. Direct and fair trade, combined with pre-financing of the harvest and the establishment of long-term, reliable supply contracts with smallholder families.
