GOLD medal at the EUROPEAN CHOCOLATE CHAMPIONSHIP, the International Chocolate Awards! We have created this fine whole milk chocolate in one of the finest Swiss chocolate manufactories. 52% cocoa content and the incomparable original cocoa Chuncho make the CHUNCHO GOLD Grand Cru 52% one of the noblest milk chocolates in the world.
The high quality chocolate cases are made of Gmund paper. For each of our three varieties of chocolate, Peruvian artist Willian Mamani Loayza from Cusco has drawn rainforest animals whose habitat we protect through our project. Each panel is individually numbered by hand and thus becomes unique.
Of course, this chocolate is free of soy lecithin, clarified butter, palm fat, flavorings or stabilizers and gluten-free.

Cocoa, including organic cocoa, is often contaminated with heavy metals, especially cadmium. This comes from natural soil deposits. As heavy metals are toxic, there are limits for chocolate and cocoa products in the EU. This is
- Milk chocolate with less than 30% cocoa: Maximum 0.10 mg cadmium per kilogram
- Chocolate with more than 50% cocoa: Maximum 0.80 mg cadmium per kilogram
- Raw cocoa: Maximum 0.60 mg cadmium per kilogram
In our project, cocoa is grown using special agroforestry techniques that protect biodiversity and the soil. This means that the trees do not have to root as deeply because they find more nutrients in the upper layers of the soil. This means that the cocoa roots come into less contact with heavy metals in the soil, particularly cadmium, which is found in deeper layers. In addition, we are lucky that the natural cadmium contamination here in southern Peru is significantly lower than in northern Peru, Ecuador or West Africa, for example.
Our cocoa beans are always tested for cadmium before import. The cadmium content of PERÚ PURO products is always 5-10 times below the legal limits. You can find the latest analysis results in the “Product safety” tab.
